One August Day is an idea that began evolving in 2009.  Several company names, ideas, and designs have been scribbled down, revised, kept, and thrown out.  However--the idea of starting a stationery and invitation company was something that would eventually come to fruition a short time later.

How did it begin?  In 2010, my husband Randy and I were married.  Of course designing our invitation was my favorite part of the planning process.  Randy is very creative, so it was wonderful to be able to work on it together.  After all the ideas were on the table, we ended up designing a "wedding magazine".  So many people only know the bride or groom.  In some cases, guests don't know either because they are friends of parents.  Our invitation told our story.  We wanted people to know how we met, who we are, and where we came from.  Once everyone began receiving them in the mail, the response was overwhelming.  People would tell us they left it on their coffee table or fridge, and my mother even had friends call her to tell her how much they enjoyed reading it.  Realizing how much we loved creating our invitation, I knew it was time to finally move forth with my invitation and stationery company.  In honor of our wedding date, August 1st, 2010, we decided to name the company One August Day.
